T.O.P Hints at Solo Comeback He's Working on for 8 Years: 'I've Matured Musically'  THE SEED/News1

T.O.P is stirring excitement among fans with hints of a solo comeback to the music scene.

On January 23, the former BIGBANG rapper—now making waves as Thanos from the Netflix thriller Squid Game 2—sat down for a candid chat with British media outlet NME.

This acting project marked his return to the entertainment industry, about seven years after he was forced to halt all of his activities when he was incarcerated for smoking marijuana in 2016.

In 2017, he received a 10-month suspended jail sentence, and despite being a conscripted police officer for his mandatory military service, he was removed from his position.

T.O.P. was assigned to become a public officer instead in 2018 until he was discharged the following year.

Since then, the "DOOM DADA" singer remained aloof from the public. Eventually, he left BIGBANG after participating in the group's digital single, "Still Life," in 2022 to spare them from further damage, which he revealed in a previous interview.

Nevertheless, T.O.P continued to work on creating and writing his music. Following the success of the Netflix series, he hinted at his desire to share it finally with fans in about eight years.

"What I am currently hoping to do is share with the world T.O.P—me as a musician—because I will be sharing my music [for the first time] in almost a decade," he said during the ZOOM interview.

"The musician T.O.P would be the character that I want to play [now]."

He's been pouring his soul into his music and standing in front of the mic, which he deemed as the only way for him to breathe.

"Over the years, I spent a lot of time really thinking about and regretting what I have done, and I spent a lot of time on self-reflection as well. I think those years have allowed my musical universe to change greatly," T.O.P said.

"I feel that my music has become richer and expanded in size as well, so I'm quite confident that my fans will feel that I have matured musically."
