
K-pop fans were left heartbroken after talent management agency IST Entertainment announced the disbandment of the popular fourth-generation girl group, Weeekly.
In a statement published Wednesday, the agency revealed that all six members—Lee Soojin, Monday, Park Soeun, Lee Jaehee, Jihan, and Zoa—have mutually agreed to terminate their exclusive contract with IST Entertainment. This decision will effectively end the artists' five-year journey under the group Weeekly in the Korean music industry.
"We would like to once again sincerely thank the members who have been with us as our artists and the fans who have been with us on this journey that has been brighter and warmer than anyone else. Weeekly debuted in June 2020 with their first EP, We Are. At the time, the group consisted of seven members, but Shin Jiyoon left two years later due to mental health issues, which came after she took a temporary break in August the year before and again in February 2022.
Throughout their career, Weeekly achieved several milestones, including winning rookie awards and participating in various activities such as collaborations and TV shows. They even participated in a VR animation game project and in the Mnet competition show "Queendom Puzzle" in 2023.
