"Been waiting for 12 years. Forget about 'Ggabkwon'!"

He has been talking flippantly, worrying people that this image might get in him singing ballad. He also has shaken hips non-stopping and often made comical expressions that even Jim Carrey would be surprised. That's why 2AM's Jo Kwon earned a title 'Ggabkwon.'

Now he is adding a new nickname again, solo singer.

Released his official first album, I'm Da One, recently, Jokwon asked that "please forget about 'Ggabkwon' for a while."

"I've showed sorrowful part from 2AM, and showed 'Ggabkwon' from variety shows. Now I want to show something completely changed in this solo singer career. I don't want to be a variety show program man. I've always been a singer, and trained for 12 years to become a singer. I know fans loved my 'Ggabkwon' character, but I am also worried that my music might not stand out because of my 'Ggabkwon' character. I won't be on variety shows for a while."

"I am going to show the essence of joyfulness"

Jo Kwon's new album has contained 'all about Jo Kwon's uniqueness.' Music and dance all can be said "it is something Jo Kwon would do."

"That's it. That is my intention. I wanted to show something that only I could do. I wanted to hear something like 'if other do it, it would've been awkward but for Jo Kwon it is different! A stage that only I can do and no one would dare to try."

First released song "Animal" is about powerful and shocking concept, and the title song "I'm Da One" is a vivid electronic dance song and reminds of the club scenery.

"To put it in one word, it is joyfulness. Through my music I want to show them what joyfulness is. I put my delightful and playful self in this music. In my personal favorite 'Animal,' I dance with 19.5 cm tall high heel. Even Lady Gaga doesn't dance with that high heel. I have showed 'I'm sexy all the way' 'I'm confident' through my dance and music."

Unlike group performance, Solo has an obligation to fulfill whole stage by himself. But Jo Kwon 'couldn't wait' for his first stage.

"It is very different from group activity. You know it feels different if four people sing along rather than just one. But now I have to take care everything myself and it is a burden. To be honest, it pressures me and makes me nervous to sing by me but, I can reaaaally do this. I have been practicing like crazily, so it would be interesting to see how I'm handling this stage."
