It's college entrance exam time in South Korea, prompting students to cram in their last minute studying and preparations. As students continue to work hard, professionals are coming out to discuss study habits, their own experiences with entrance exams and SATs, and tips for the next generation of test takers.
On November 11, SBS released an interview with Big Communications representative Jung Young Jin. During the conversation on exams and SATs, the representative revealed what he thinks to be the number one banned song during entrance exam season. That song is none other than SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong!"
Because of its catchy hooks and repetitive nature, "Ring Ding Dong" has been determined as the song to avoid most while studying. It's followed quickly after by SS501's "I'm Your Man."
Korean commenters were quick to agree with Jung Young Jin's choice. "Just read the article title and it's already stuck in my head," one person lamented, translated by Netizenbuzz.
Another online commenter recounted a story of a test taker who heard "Ring Ding Dong" while traveling to take her exam. The song apparently got so stuck in her head that she failed her English exam. "'Ring Ding Dong' is the devil's song," the commenter finished.
Other internet users commented only with song lyrics rather than their own thoughts, proving how addictive "Ring Ding Dong" can be.
"Ring Ding Dong" was released in 2009 on SHINee's third EP. Although the boys have since released a number of hit singles, "Ring Ding Dong" remains one of their most recognizable tracks to date.
