GOT7 Dominates Sold Out Show at Barclays Center (REVIEW)

GOT7 is no stranger to New York City as the male idol group has made the Big Apple a stop during their headlining tours in the past.

However, this year is different. Taking on arenas, GOT7 headlines and becomes the first ever K-pop boy group to perform at the iconic Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

JB, Jackson, Mark, Youngjae, Jinyoung, BamBam and Yugyeom graced a jam-packed arena of Ahgases on the evening of July 11, 2018.

Kicking off the night with a special rendition of "Hard Carry," the septet appeared on stage in suits oozing in charisma and charm.

In between talk breaks, Youngjae emphasized how much of a privilege it was to be performing at the Barclays a year after he saw his personal favorite rapper, Kendrick Lamar, live in concert at the same exact stage.

While, BamBam and Jackson, on the other hand, always brought up the variety and humor side of the group by basing talk breaks from a romantic animated short written by Jinyoung.

The night went on with the group performing hits such as "Look", "Teenager", a remix to "Girls Girls Girls", "If You Do" and "Never Ever."

Though a personal fave, "Just Right", was nowhere to be found on the setlist, GOT7 exceeded expectations and delivered powerful performances in the end.

As for special stages, the group split into units - Jinyoung and BamBam as a hip-hop duo, JB, Mark and Youngjae as a trio and finally, Jackson and Yugyeom.

However, what I would personally consider to be the highlight of the night was the group's closing message to their fans. The group emphasized the importance of not giving up and staying healthy physically, emotionally, and especially mentally.

Each member of GOT7 delivered their closing remarks in English to let every fan present that the reason why they were standing before them was solely because of them.

As New York became the group's last U.S. stop, GOT7 expressed their upcoming plans for a new album and music some time towards the end of the year and promises that they will be back again.

Only time will tell.

*Notification: Correction has been made in regards to "Just Right" being GOT7's debut track. Debut track is "Girls, Girls, Girls."
