Blackpink Ranks Number 1 For Brand Value Rankings in June

The Korea Institute of Corporate Reputation announced on Sunday that the all-girl dance group, BLACKPINK took the number 1 spot for brand value rankings this month.  Brand value is a ranking published by joint organizations in South Korea that reflects how much media buzz, both through traditional and social medium a group creates in the past month.

Of almost 100 million pieces of analyzed data, it was the sixth consecutive month BLACKPINK ranks number one for brand value rankings scoring a total brand reputation index of 9,305,014. In addition, the all-girl group's positively-negatively analysis revealed a score of 65.98 percent positive reactions from respondents.

These big data were collected from May 7 to June 8 and analyzed based on consumer participation, interaction, community index and media exposures from various girl groups.

What does it mean to rank 1 on Reputation Rankings?

It is always a hot issue for almost all kpop fans around the world to know what is the most popular K-POP Idol Groups. It is actually hard to exactly tell who they are as criteria can sometimes relate to Korean media outlets alone as sometimes these media outlets have special connections with some entertainment agencies.

Unlike the first one mentioned, research institutes have no acquaintances with any K-POP agencies and could be more meaningful to get both male and female KPOP groups' popularity through data gathered. The Korean Business Research Institute decides on the rankings based on factors like the social participation index, social communication index,  media index, and the online community index.

Back to the recent reputation rankings from June, TWICE followed BLACKPINK with brand reputation index of 7,114,631 which maintained their position from the previous months. On the third spot placed Oh My Girl getting an index score of 6,982,434 while RED VELVET ranked fourth on the list followed by IZ*ONE.

Also on the list are all girl groups Lovelyz, Weki Meki, MAMAMOO, Girls Generation and Cosmic Girls. For the male counterpart, brand reputation rankings for K-POP Boy Group revealed BTS on the number 1 spot with a brand reputation index of 18,601,065 followed by AB6IX. EXO got the third spot while NCT and NU'EST gained the fourth and fifth spot respectively.
