ITZY has won their second music show trophy for "ICY"!

On August 8, the girl group was one of the nominees for first place on M Countdown, alongside NCT Dream with their track "BOOM." ITZY got the number one spot with a total score of 8,087 against the boy group's 4,860.

The other K-Pop groups who performed in this week's episode were Oh My Girl, GWSN, 1TEAM, FANATICS, Venus, D1CE, KNK, FlaShe, CIX, VERIVERY, DONGKIZ, Rocket Punch, PENTAGON, SEVENTEEN, Norazo, VAV, JBJ95, and NATURE.

ITZY's first win with "ICY" was on Show Champion on August 7, competing with DAY's "Time of Our Life," PENTAGON's "Humph!" MeloMance's "You&I" and Heize's "We Don't Talk Together."

The track "ICY" was released on July 29 this year, 2019, as the title track of ITZY's first mini-album titled "IT'z Icy" that was revealed on the same day. JYP Entertainment's very own Park Jin Young is the one who wrote "ICY" for ITZY, and this is the first song the girls received from him. And during a showcase of the group at the Blue Square in the neighborhood of Hannam, Seoul on the same day of their album's release, they expressed their gratitude to their agency's CEO.

Member Lia said, "It is an honor to be provided with a song from PD (producing director) Park Jin Young for the first time. Our wish was attained, so we prepared ourselves really hard. Please give us loads of love and attention."

Yeji commented, "I am so delighted and honored that we were able to work with Park Jin Young so soon. He divided and gave us our parts." Yeji went on and said, "The producer and other expert composers and songwriters put all of their hearts and souls into it, so we anticipate it very much."

Another member, Chaeryeong, also shared her thoughts, saying, "He himself distributed and taught us our parts. I was thankful because he always gives us guidance with a smile. He also gave us a piece of advice to sing this song confidently without being superficial."

Aside from "ICY," the album also consists of four other tracks titled "Cherry," "IT'z Summer," and the remixes of their previous songs "Dalla Dalla" and "Want It?"
