They debuted in 2014 with the song "Happiness" with the members Joy, Seulgi, Wendy and Irene. The girl group originally consisted of four members, then the fifth member Yeri joined them in 2015 when they first released their mini-album called "Ice Cream Cake".
Aside from that, some people did not know that there is an 8 years age gap among the members, from youngest to oldest. Irene who is the group leader of the band was born in the year 1991, while Yeri is the youngest among the group members who was born in 1999. Red Velvet was the first girl group who made it under the SM Entertainment to have their debut in 5 years.
Along with the other K-pop's biggest names during that time like Girl's Generation, EXO, TVXQ! and SHINee. Furthermore, they won multiple sets of awards during their hit single "Ice Cream Cake" that made their journey way too successful for each of them.
