Arguably, one of the most controversial girl groups in terms of singing and rapping is IVE. Despite possessing an all-visual lineup, the group's live performance has continuously been criticized.
On March 3, IVE appeared on the Japanese show "IDOL VS IDOL." Members Yujin, Rei, and Leeseo performed BLACKPINK's debut song, "BOOMBAYAH."
On the other hand, members Liz, Gaeul, and Jang Wonyoung performed BLACKPINK's "Forever Young."
IVE Rei Earns Praise for Rapping Skills During Cover of BLACKPINK's 'BOOMBAYAH'
Out of the three members, Rei earns the most praise for her skills. She occupied the spotlight, performing Jennie's rap smoothly. People praised the idol for her rapping skills. They hope to hear her rap in IVE's future releases. Others even stated that Rei's rap skills are better than her vocals.

While Rei received praise, members Yujin and Leeseo received mixed opinions. People claimed their vocals are not up to par with the original song. Some viewers commented that this cover allowed them to appreciate Rosé's skills.

Many claimed that the girls desperately needed to improve their vocals.

Others stated that BLACKPINK's songs are notoriously difficult to perform, so it is understandable that they struggled.
