Nokia Lumia 930 Review: Taking A Closer Look At Nokia And Microsoft's 'Greatest Creation' As Of Late

Before we take a look at the Nokia Lumia 930 review, let us first consider what this phone is primarily. The Lumia 930 is joint-project of Microsoft and Nokia with one purpose - to further expand the popularity and sales of their Windows Phone mobile platform.

In the past couple of years, there has been a steady increase in the adoption rate for Microsoft's platform, but it is still way behind Android and iOS in terms of market share. And so Microsoft unleashed probably the best version of its WP OS, while Nokia develops one of the best pieces of hardware we have seen from the company.

Design

The Nokia Lumia 930 has an aluminum frame on its sides which keeps everything in place. However, for the back portion of the device, the manufacturer decided to use polycarbonate plastic which comes in a variety of color options, just like previous Lumias. The phone is squarish, just like its predecessors. While it looks good, the wider frame makes it a little more difficult to manage with one hand.

Display

The Lumia 930 packs a 5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and has the manufacturer's staple ClearBlack display which produces the best blacks in displays today. The screen also has decent brightness levels which would make it easier to look at even with direct sunlight.

Chipset

The flagship phone boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, and while it is not the latest from the chipmaker, it still delivers top-notch performance for the Lumia 930. Also on board are four CPU cores running at 2.2GHz, as well as 2GB of RAM for the best multi-tasking experience on your Windows Phone 8.1 device.

Camera

In the smartphone world, only the Sony Xperia Z2 and its predecessor variants can match Nokia's own line of cameraphones. While the Lumia 930 is not advertized as primarily a cameraphone, it features a 20MP PureView camera nonetheless, and it is definitely among the best in the business today. For people who love Android but wants to use the iPhone 5s' camera, the Lumia 930 is the closest thing you can get.

Verdict

Specswise, the Nokia Lumia 930 review highlighted the fact that Nokia still builds the best smartphones in the business, if not only limited by their mobile OS of choice. For consumers who have recently parted ways with Android or iOS and looks for a new commitment, then you can try WP 8.1, and the Lumia 930 provides the best experience in that version.
