Cleveland Cavaliers Roster: Why LeBron Needs Wiggins More Than Love In The Long Run

With just more than a month since he was selected first overall in the NBA rookie draft, Andrew Wiggins has already seen his upcoming career in a lot of twists and turns, and questions whether he will begin his career in the Cleveland Cavaliers roster are still unanswered. 

However, in a new report by Bleacher Report, it looks like the Cavs are already preparing their rookie contract for the 19-year-old Canadian player. 

Still, in spite of the fact that Cleveland will indeed sign Wiggins, it does not guarantee that he will begin his career with the LeBron-led team. For the past weeks, rumor has it that the Cavs are preparing a trade with Minnesota for elite scorer and rebounder Kevin Love. 

In return, Cleveland is rumored to send last year's first overall top pick Anthony Bennett, and Wiggins, who has yet to play an NBA game.

But as far as 4-time MVP LeBron James is concerned, while getting Love will certainly increase the Cavs stakes at making it to the Finals this year, it would not guarantee a long-lasting relationship. Like what he did when he joined the Heat in 2010, Love could just be chasing his own titles before ending his legacy with the Wolves.

In the long run, it wouldn't benefit James nor the Cavs - and by that time who knows how Wiggins develops into. He could be a defensive specialist who has great lateral movement in the perimeter and explosive leaping ability in the shaded lane. 

The report also mentions Love as one of the most ineffcient players when it comes to allowing opponents to make their shots. While LBJ and perhaps Varejao can make their presence felt in D, Irving and the others may not be as committed. But with an enegry guy like Wiggins probably coming off the bench, Cleveland can assure the same level of intensity all through out the game. 

Wiggins' signing is expected to be this week, and after that we can all wait what the Cavs decide to do.
