Upcoming HTC Phones 2014: HTC One Mini 2 Arriving In Verizon On July 24, Disguised As HTC Remix

One of the upcoming HTC phones for 2014 is the 'mini' flagship, dubbed the HTC One mini 2, which was made official last month.

Apparently, Verizon will get the phone beginning July 24, though it will have a slightly different name - HTC Remix.

We don't know what the Remix can do that the One mini 2 cannot, but we're pretty sure Verizon wants to get as much proof that it is its HTC device with all those Verizon markings all over.

Just like the original One mini 2, the HTC Remix is a midrange device that will support 4G LTE so that's a plus if you are currently a subscriber of Verizon's LTE network.

Similar to its predecessor, the smaller flagship gets a 4.5-inch display with a decent HD (1280 x 720) resolution, a Snapdragon 400 chipset, a quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, and 1GB of RAM.

While the specs are mediocre, you will be surprised that the HTC Remix comes with a 13-megapixel camera at the back and a 5-megapixel shooter in front. With that duo alone, it already outperforms most of the midrange devices in this spec level.

The device also packs a 16GB of internal memory, powered by a 2,110mAh battery, and runs on Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box.

HTC is slowly crawling back from its two-year collapse, but it is still a long way for the Taiwanese manufacturer to actually pose a threat to the world leaders in smartphone sales today, Apple and Samsung.

Even Chinese manufacturer Huawei, which was almost unknown three years ago, is now sitting comfortably on the third spot. Cheaper smartphones with decent specs are also beginning to take over the market.

In order to become relevant again, HTC should continue offering premium-built devices at reasonable prices.

We'll just wait until Thursday for the pricing and availability details.
