Upcoming Samsung Phones 2014: Watch Out For This 'Alpha' Dog, Rumored Specs Incl. 4.7" Super AMOLED Display, Fingerprint Scanner, Heart-Rate Monitor

The Korean manufacturer is back to its old self releasing upcoming Samsung phones for 2014, in spite following a loss last quarter.

Still, the company is definitely not short of the resources as it prepares another upper-tier Android smartphone.

Dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, the smartphone has recently been seen in live images, one of which shows the phone's bootup screen with the model name.

According to a report by GSM Arena, Galaxy Alpha will pack a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display, though resolution is unknown at the moment. The smartphone is powered by an Exynos chip that supports LTE connectivity so no problems there for people who can't live without fast Internet connection.

It is interesting to point out here that in spite the smaller scree size, the Galaxy Alpha can be considered a flagship device with the premium features it has which include the heart rate monitor and the fingerprint scanner of the Galaxy S5.

The smartphone's case is made out of plastic while the frame is metal, keeping the phone pieces in place. While there is a nano-SIM card slot, no microSD card slots are seen based on the images.

But why a phone with a 4.7-inch display when Samsung has already gone passed that screen size already as far as higher-end smartphones are concerned?

In the report, apparently the Korean manufacturer is aiming the Galaxy Alpha directly at the soon to be announced Apple iPhone 6 which has the same screen size.

As for the 5.5-inch iPhone, Samsung already has the Galaxy Note 4 ready it.

The Samsung and Apple war has gone a long way and it continues on and off the market. This September we will probably see the closest head-to-head battle between the two phone makers as far as their upcoming flagship phones are concerned.
