Greek Freak Giannis Antetokounmpo: The Next Kevin Durant? Teenage NBA Prodigy Grows Taller As His Game Improves! Milwaukee Bucks Fans Excited!

The Milwaukee Bucks are giddy over their season. They managed to pick the rookie that they wanted (Jabari Parker) and the steal of last year's draft, The Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo is improving by leaps and bounds. He's so young, he's actually still growing!

Height is more than a convenient commodity in the NBA so there's never too much of it. The Journal Sentinel confirms the observation that the Greek Freak is indeed growing:

"He came last September he was 6-9, 190 (lbs.) and today he's almost 6-11, 217 pounds. I think Giannis is a guy that is going to be able to play, at his size, he's going to be able to play some small forward and he's going to play some power forward some day."

Because of his lean built and his quickness, Giannis is being touted as the next Kevin Durant-who is now the NBA's Most Valuable Player. Of course, he has ways to go before he can have a transcendent game like Durant who, just like his MVP rival LeBron James, can play almost any position on the court.

Summer League has shown so much improvement from the young Greek. ESPN had an interview:

"Was the NBA more difficult that you imagined, or was it in some ways easier?

Giannis Antetokounmpo: It was hard. When I came into the league, I knew it was going to take a while for me to play. I just tried to have faith in myself and work hard for the coaches, so when my opportunity came, I could be ready. When (Larry Drew) told me to play that first game, I was ready to go, to fight for my guys forever."

Giannis used to play in Greece, and the difference in terms of competition level from there to the NBA is very wide.

On their teams defensive strategy for him: "I get to freelance some, because I like to be aggressive and they know I can get back (into position) because I'm so long. They know I'm not a silly guy who loses focus on the defensive end. I have a good feel for the game, so I'm usually in position. But I have to work on it a lot."

Giannis likes to chase down a shooter and go for the block, and that can disrupt the defensive alignment. He's very young and he can be deceived by ball fakes. That was something he needed to improve.

His main asset: "[Coaches] tell me I'm a mismatch nightmare. So if a big guy guards me, I can go by him and draw the foul or create open looks for my teammates. But if a little guy guards me, I'm going to back him down and take him into the paint."

He has the gift of size and mobility: Taller than most small forwards, faster than most power forwards. Similar to Kevin Durant, but now Antetokounmpo is even taller than Durant!

His new running mate Jabari Parker: "He's a really nice guy. Really nice. He's going to be a great player in this league, someone special in this league. I can't wait for the season to start so we can work together and build something together."

Watch out for The Greek Freak! Hard to remember (or spell) his name, so Greek Freak is fine.
