‘Avengers Age of Ultron’ Spoilers: Tony Stark Is The Main Villain? Bruce Banner Questions His Motives, Thor Grabs Him By The Throat!

The 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Teaser as well as interviews on the Comic Con Panel paint a different picture of Tony Stark. While he takes the reins of the fallen SHIELD, his motives are suddenly questioned. Will we see the dark side of Iron Man in the Avengers sequel?

The footage shows a lot of spoilers, but there is one striking detail relevant to the argument (from I09):

"Thor grabs Tony Stark's throat and lifts him off the ground." Why would he do this? Or one can argue, why did it take so long?

Of course, the context is still a mystery but there could be some clues in the interview with Robert Downey Jr. himself. From EW (video interview transcribed by Comic Book Movie):

"Stark has set Banner up to be able to continue his good works in Stark Tower, and Tony has a project of his own. So, it's one of those things where it's like your second development team 'Hey, how is it going over there, that looks really nice and green; can I talk to you about this other idea I have.' This project, or idea, that Tony Stark has is creating Ultron so that the "world doesn't have to count on" Avengers, but evidently it 'winds up not being a good idea.'"

Ultron based on the comics got his sentience from his creator, Dr. Henry Pym. We all know that it has been changed to Tony Stark. Does this mean that Ultron is a reflection of Stark's personality-and that world domination is somehow also on Stark's agenda?

RDJ continues:  "Bruce is dubious as to the moral psychology of this project idea of Tony's. And It's nice because it sets up a little bit of tension between us."

Mark Ruffalo adds: "It sort of blows up."

That's putting it lightly, as there is a much touted scene with the Hulkbuster armor serving its purpose: busting the Hulk. At least it will try.

This is the darker theme of "Age Of Ultron." It's not just about the death and destruction, but the revelation that the heroes are not as heroic as we'd like them to be.

The wild teaser footage has initiated a more intensive countdown to May 1, 2015!
