Moto 360 Release Date, Rumors, Price, Specs, And News: Motorola Google Smartwatch Will Feature Wireless Charging, Metal Or Leather Bands, And Round Watchface [PHOTO]

The Moto 360 is coming, here is everything known about the new smartwatch.

The Moto 260 release date was expected in July, which came and went. While there has still been no official word industry experts now expect the Moto 360 reelase date to be in late August or early September, and likely will be released in conjunction with the Moto X+1 smartphone.

Featuring the same, tile-based, swipe-navigated interface, the 360 will offer a similar user experience to the G Watch and Gear Live, albeit on a round as opposed to square screen. One area where the 360 will set itself apart from the competition is through its watch faces.

The Motorola 360 is so far the only android watch with a circular screen and a high quality metal. According to expert reviews, the Moto 360 will come with an option of either metal or leather straps.  Rumors suggest that the Moto 360 watch screen is a custom-made OLED display and coupled with the ambient light sensor it should be a pretty efficient device. It is said that the OLED screen can save up to 40% of power compared LCD displays. This is an advantage to the Moto 360 watch.

It is also reported that Motorola confirmed that the Moto 360 can charge wirelessly via magnetic induction. The Motorola 360 watch will likely run with Google's Android Wear OS, compatible with all Android 4.3 and Android 4.4 phones and tablets through Bluetooth.

Reports say that the Moto 360 smartwatch will also be water resistant. Although there is no official announcement, Motorola casually hinted that the average retail value of the Moto 360 Watch is $249. It is not known what model this price is in reference to.

Speaking exclusively with TrustedReviews recently, Mark Randall, Motorola's Senior Vice President of Supply Chain, stated: "Moto 360 is a really cool device that we think solves a lot of problems that no one else has solved in the wearables space." He added: "We look at the 360 and we look at what everyone has done in that space. To be honest we think they are all pretty crappy. We think people just don't want to wear a lot of the devices that are out there today."

Like the G Watch and Gear Live, it is expected that the 360 will originally be sold through the Google Play Store, with pre-orders to open up a week or two prior to the device being made available. Check back often as the Moto 360 release date gets closer.
