Upcoming Nokia Phones 2014: Microsoft And Nokia's 'Last' Android Phone Already On Sale In Select Markets For As Low As $154

In spite the launch of the Windows Phone 8.1 update, almost half of upcoming Nokia phones for 2014 were powered by Android, though they are devoid of Google services and access to the Play Store.

People thought the Nokia X would be at least a midranger that can take on the likes of the Galaxy and One minis, but during the device's launch at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, it was just an entry level handset.

And after CEO Satya Nadella addressed Microsoft employees that the current Nokia X designs would soon run on Windows Phone OS, everyone thought we have seen the last of Nokia's Android lineup.

Apparently, the Nokia X successor, the X2, was developed and announced way before Nadella made the announcement, and so the Android-powered device has already launched in a few select markets which include Russia and Pakistan.

According to the report by GSM Arena, the Nokia X2 costs 6000 rubles in Russia or about 125 euros ($167), while it is priced at only 115 euros ($154) or Rs. 15,490 in Pakistan.

In recent reports, the Nokia X2 is not much of an upgrade from the Nokia X. It boasts 4.3-inch IPS display with 800 x 480 resolution, a dual-core Cortex-A7 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, a Snapdragon 200 chipset, and a higher 1GB of RAM.

The internal memory has been cut in half from the Nokia X's 8GB storage, though there is still a microSD card slot for memory expansion. In the camera department, the Nokia X2 packs a 5MP primary camera and a VGA secondary shooter in front.

The phone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is covered by a Nokia skin that resembles that of the Lumia lineup. The phone has dual-SIM support and gets a Nokia store instead of the Play Store.

Hopefully, Nokia's last Android phone would become available in more markets in the coming months.
