‘American Horror Story Freak Show’ Is So Frightening That Filming It Left Kathy Bates Sleepless In Real Life! Scary Antagonist To Be Introduced

The upcoming "American Horror Story Freak Show" series appears to be that frightening that it even affected one of its cast members, Kathy Bates. At the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con panel, the actress talked about how scared she was after filming just her first scene

"After my first scene last week - and this is a terrible confession to make -I couldn't sleep until six in the morning, and then I slept for 30 hours. And that was without drugs, I swear to God. I think [co-creator of the show, Ryan Murphy] scares the s**t out of me," she said.

In the upcoming "American Horror Story" season 4, Bates will give life to the role of Effil Darling, the former wife of Wendell del Tolito (Michael Chiklis) and the mother of Jimmy Darling (Evan Peters).

"American Horror Story Freak Show" is expected to come out in October as the team is currently in New Orleans for the production. For the freak show, which will be operated by Jessica Lange's character Elsa Mars, several performers will be seen including the creepy conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler who will be played by Sarah Paulson.

Emma Roberts will play Maggie whereas Angela Bassett will play Desiree, the current wife of Wendell. Executive producer Tim Minear has also said during the Comic-Con event that John Carroll Lynch would become one of the season's great antagonists and would "scare the s**t out of you."

"American Horror Story" season 4 is based in Jupiter, Florida and will revolve around the few remaining freak shows in the country in 1950s. While the new season will have few comical moments, it will reportedly have a darker tone reminiscent of "American Horror Story Asylum" in season 2.
