Cleveland Cavaliers Roster Expected To Better With Veteran Forward Shawn Marion, Will Ray Allen Join LeBron To Chase Championship?

Time and again, recent reports about the Cleveland Cavaliers roster continue to praise the offensive onslaught it is capable of when the NBA season begins. However, there is one aspect that they will certainly lack - defense.

While both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love are prominent scorers, either of the two are not well-known when it comes to defense. In statistics posted by BleacherReport, both players have difficulty preventing opposing players to make their shots.

We all know that LeBron James is an elite defender in the wing and sometimes even the four position, but he can only do so much on the defensive end. A good way to counter this weakness on defense is for the entire team to play full-court pressure every time, but that is certainly not a good idea in the long run as it will only lead to early fatigue.

However, a new report claims that former Dallas frontliner Shawn Marion has 'committed to sign' with the Cavs as reported by Marc Stein of ESPN.

If this is the case, then Marion could fill up the defensive void on the four spot and provide the needed help to James. Love or Anderson Varejao can play the center position while two James and Marion play defense on the perimeter and shaded lane respectively.

As for veteran shooting guard Ray Allen, there is still no answer as to whether he would continue playing and probably chase his final NBA title. In an interview a couple of weeks back, the future Hall of Famer said that he's taking his time, and if his decision will push him to retire, he will be content with whatever he's accomplished already.

However, the young Cavs team badly needs someone who has great shooting skills and extensive post-season experience, and that guy is Allen. We'll see in the next couple of weeks if the talent in Cleveland will lure in Allen as well.
