Stephen Curry Vs LeBron James: Golden State Star Claims He's A Better Offensive Player Than King James! Is He Correct Or Crazy?

Stephen Curry is the star of the Golden State Warriors and is probably one of the best offensive players in the league. LeBron James is acknowledged as the best player in the world.

Recently, Curry was a guest on the Dan Patrick show where the host asked if him who was the better offensive player, LeBron James or himself. As expected, Curry would say it's him.

The question was flawed to begin with. Blue Man Hoop cites:

"Never mind that they play completely different positions. Never mind that LeBron has a full five-inch height advantage and is 65 pounds heavier than Curry. Never mind that that their skill sets make them incomparable - Curry is a pure shooter who lives on threes and creating his own shot from the outside, while LeBron is a brunt force with a wide array of post moves and uncanny talent that makes him the best player in the world. Can LeBron shoot threes like Curry? No, but can Curry muscle his way inside like LeBron? Hell no."

If we look at the stats though, there is no way we cannot disregard team play. For last season, LeBron James obviously had the better support group. The Washington Post says:

"As per Synergy Sports, James was seventh in the league in overall points per possession (1.12) while Curry ranked 63rd (1.01). With the exception of spotting up and coming off the screen, James bested Curry in points per possession on almost every other type of set play. Per NBA's SportsVu, James touched the ball 38 times per game and scored 0.36 points per touch. Curry had 78.8 and 0.30, respectively."

The discrepancy in possessions means that the Warriors almost always involve Stephen Curry in every play for the Warriors and he takes up more shots. James does a lot of different things for the Heat including rebounding and defense.

LeBron has an option to pick good shots, Curry does not have that luxury and he has to take a bulk of three point shots.

Washington Post's conclusion:

"If Curry had his own "Big Three," perhaps the gap between him and James wouldn't appear as large, and the idea that Curry is as good or better than James not so far-fetched."

Curry is not correct, but he's not crazy either.
