Syfy has released a new trailer for "Z Nation" in hopes of getting some a piece of that sweet sweet zombie pie.

As can be seen in the trailer, the 13-episode "Z Nation" picks up three years after a zombie virus has decimated the country and a team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood.

The official description reads: "Although the antibodies he carries are the world's last, best hope for a vaccine, he hides a dark secret that threatens them all. With humankind's survival at stake, the ragtag band embarks on a journey of survival across three thousand miles of rusted-out post-apocalyptic America."

The series stars Harold Perrineau, Tom Everett Scott, DJ Qualls, Michael Welch, Kellita Smith, Anastasia Baranova, Russell Hodgkinson, and Keith Allan. Eureka producer Karl Schaefer is helming the project.

From "Sharknado" production company The Asylum, the series stars Harold Perrineau, Tom Everett Scott, DJ Qualls, Michael Welch and Kellita Smith. Karl Schaefer will serve as executive producer and showrunner for "Z Nation," with John Hyams on board to direct the pilot.

Networks have been trying to get a second "Walking Dead" up off the ground for awhile now. Amazon attempted to adapt breakout pic "Zombieland" during its first batch of pilots, but the show didn't make it to series. At midseason, The CW will launch "iZombie" from "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas, which features an undead heroine who works at the Seattle coroner's office to feed her craving for grey matter.

"Z Nation" premieres Friday, Sept. 12 at 10 p.m. on Syfy. Watch the new trailer below.
