Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Spoilers: Sandra Oh's Cristina Won't Be Replaced By Geena Davis, Says Shonda Rhimes

As "Grey's Anatomy" continues filming for season 11, spoilers regarding the series have surfaced.

Recently, it's been confirmed the Geena Davis will have a recurring role as a surgeon on "Grey's Anatomy" season 11. However, spoilers confirm that the mysterious character will not be replacing the void left by Christina, portrayed by Sandra Oh.

“There is a hole left by the loss of Meredith’s best friend, and we do not try to fill it — at all,” said creator Shonda Rhimes according to TVLine. "That wouldn't make sense."

"This is awesome," commented MiniryuNinja on Hypable. "I think it would be cool if she was Margaret's adoptive mother otherwise I want her to be a nice character rather than a nasty one."

"She could be in plastics or maybe in a specialty that has not yet been featured as heavily in the show. It would be nice to introduce another specialty to bring in a more diverse range of cases."

Margaret, in case fans don't know, is the name of Meredith's half-sister and the child of Ellis Grey and Richard Webber. According to spoilers, "Grey's Anatomy" season 11 will reveal how the child came to be, and will explore Meredith's reaction to the revelation as well.

Along the same veins, spoilers also confirm that in addition to seeing Meredith's mother Ellis Grey (portrayed by Kate Burton) in flashbacks, a young Richard will also be seen to depict their relationship.

“I am excited to see how the whole thing plays out,” Burton added, “because James [Pickens Jr.] and I never really explored [the Ellis-Richard] relationship.”
