Diane Keaton Buzz: “Annie Hall” Actress Will Receive Zurich Film Festival’s Golden Icon Award, Debuts New Film Opposite Morgan Freeman At Toronto International Film Festival

Academy Award winning actress Diane Keaton generates buzz this week as she will be honored at the Zurich Film Festival with the Golden Icon award for her lifetime achievement in the arts. The "Annie Hall" actress will also debut a new film with Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman entitled "Ruth & Alex." The film will debut at Toronto International Film Festival, suggesting possible Oscar buzz depending of course on its reception.

The Zurich Film Festival will honor Diane Keaton with the Golden Icon award this year on October 1st. The award is in recognition of the lifetime achievements of the esteemed actress. According to Variety, the festival's directors, Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri, stated: "Her longevity is a testament to her ability to consistently reinvent and challenge herself, explore new creative avenues, and her overall prowess as one of the greatest actresses of our generation."

Diane Keaton will present her film "And So It Goes" at the festival, but the real upcoming excitement for the "Something's Gotta Give" actress is her new film with "Shawshank Redemption" actor Morgan Freeman. When two of the biggest actors in Hollywood get together on screen, it's automatic Oscar bait.

"Ruth & Alex" will premiere at the Gala Presentation of the Toronto International Film Festival. According to Indiewire, the film "takes place over a long weekend, when an older New York couple (played by Freeman and Keaton, an artist and a retired teacher) try to sell their East Village apartment, where they've lived for 40 years, and for which there is a huge bidding war, leading to various unexpected real estate-related issues they have to resolve. And as the couple makes an offer on a new apartment, they look back on years of memories they made in their old home."

As the film industry prepares for awards season, it looks like they can expect big things from veteran actress Diane Keaton.
