‘Sherlock’ Benedict Cumberbatch Girlfriend 2014 Revealed! Dating Oxford-Educated Theatre Director, Sophie Hunter’s Mother Confirms?

"Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch has a new girlfriend, and now her identity has finally been revealed! Did the mother of Benedict Cumberbatch's girlfriend also confirm that he was dating the Oxford-education theatre director, Sophie Hunter?

According to the Mirror, Benedict Cumberbatch, 38, is dating Sophie Hunter, 36, a theatre director and occasional actress. The pair were first spotted together at a French Open tennis match in June, but now her identity has been confirmed.

Speculation was rife that he was dating a gorgeous brunette, after Benedict and a mystery woman were spotted out together on numerous occasions.

When asked about the relationship, the mother of Benedict Cumberbatch's girlfriend, Anna, told the Mirror cryptically, "Watch this space. You never know," suggesting that Benedict and Sophie might find themselves in the area together soon!

According to the Mirror, Sophie is perfectly matched for Benedict's high intelligence - she studied French and Italian at Oxford before enrolling at the prestigious Jacques Lecoq school of theatre in Paris, where students have included Sacha Baron Cohen, Steven Berkoff and Geoffrey Rush.

Benedict Cumberbatch's girlfriend has had TV roles, including "Midsomer Murders" and a small role in the 2004 movie "Vanity Fair." She also appeared with the "Sherlock" actor in the 2009 film "Burlesque Fairytales," set in a 1930s London theatre, according to the publication.

As we previously reported, following his 2012 break up with fashion designer Anna Jones, Cumberbatch's sister, Tracy Peacock-Tabernacle, told UK's The Sun, "You have to be a pretty smart cookie to keep up with him. I think that is possibly why he has trouble with girlfriends. He is such a lot like Sherlock - he is quick thing like him, but not harsh. He's incredibly well read. In comparison to some he is quite an intellectual," Peacock said.

"One of his regrets is that he hasn't found someone to settle down with," Peacock added. "I they think would have to be someone not in the acting profession. Someone who was happy to hold the fort while he went off and pursued his career," she said.

A source previously confirmed to ShowBizSpy that Benedict's new girlfriend isn't in the entertainment industry.

"He's been seeing the lady in question for the past few months. She isn't in the public eye, and has quite a serious career, so is keen to remain anonymous for as long as possible," the source said.
