Beyonce And Jay Z Are “On The Run”: Watch Channel Bonnie And Clyde In New Short Film ‘Bang Bang’

Just when we thought Beyonce and Jay Z ignored our pleas to expand their cinematic On the Run concert teaser into an actual full-length film, they come right around... only with a different idea in mind.

Over the weekend, the power couple wrapped up their On the Run tour in Paris-but this doesn't mean they'll be gone for a while.

As Nowness reports, filmmaker Dikay Rimmasch has recently released the first part of "Bang Bang", the short film trilogy aired during the couple's concert. The video features them quite literally on the run, in a 1960s Pontiac GTO shot through the Californian desert.

Totally badass!

In stark black and white, the couple meet at a Beyoncé cabaret performance before hitting the road in the desert to eat at a diner. A man at another table is reading a newspaper that has both Jay Z and Beyoncé's faces on it with the headline, "On the Run." The rapper then extinguishes his cigar on a hamburger.

Rimmasch said that the videos were meant to evoke the same sort of feelings as the "magical moments of cinema" back in the "French new wave".

"In my first conversation on the telephone with Jay Z, he explained his concept of On the Run," Rimmasch told Nowness. "He said, 'We're not trying to do this literally, it's not that we're Bonnie and Clyde. We're on the run from everything, on the run from becoming a cliché, on the run from doing the same thing again.' Everything he mentioned was a level of consciousness he has for staying alive as an entertainer and as a human being. He wanted to keep it more abstract because for him it was very abstract."

'On the Run Tour: Beyoncé and Jay Z' premieres Sept. 20 on HBO. The couple filmed it in Paris and it will showcase more than 40 songs.
