Tony Stewart News: NASCAR Driver's Case Goes To Grand Jury; Driver To Face Criminal Charges?

Supporters will have to brace themselves for bad Tony Stewart news as the NASCAR driver will reportedly await decision from a grand jury on whether or not he will face criminal charges.

According to a Tony Stewart news update provided by the Charlotte Observer, the possible indictment is in relation to the fatal crash of sprint car driver Kevin Ward.

Stewart reportedly hit the other driver, who was walking on a track during an Empire Super Sprints series in New York on August 9, which led to the latter's death from the injuries he suffered.

An investigation led by the Ontario County Office of Sheriff reportedly took place and had been finished.

Local district attorney Michael Tantillo reportedly decided to have a grand jury determine if there was plausible cause for Stewart to be charged.

"Upon my review of all the information contained in the entire investigation, I have made the determination that it would be appropriate to submit the evidence to a grand jury, for their determination as to what action should be taken in this matter," Tantillo said. "When the presentation has been completed and a determination has ben made, I will advise the public and the media at that time of the results."

Stewart gave a statement regarding the investigation, saying: "I respect the time and effort spent by both the Ontario County District Attorney and the sheriff's office in investigating this tragic accident. I look forward to this process being completed, and I will continue to provide my full cooperation."

In a press conference held in August, Stewart gave a statement regarding the accident, saying: "This has been one of the toughest tragedies I've ever had to deal with, both professionally and personally. And this is something that will definitely affect my life forever. This is a sadness and a pain I hope no one ever has to experience in their life."

More Tony Stewart news will be expected to come in the future as the case remains unsolved.
