‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Opens #3 In Japan Making Worldwide Box Office Gross Over $600 Million, Writer/Director James Gunn Reveals Deleted Star-Lord Romance Plot [PHOTO]

The off-beat superhero film from Marvel and Disney continues to grab attention long after it's debut. "Guardians of the Galaxy" opened in Japan over the weekend in the number three spot, contributing another sizeable amount to it's box office success. Currently, the film has already made over $600 million worldwide, even before it opens in the now coveted Chinese box office. On top of this, writer/director James Gunn has revealed the latest behind the scenes information and it appears Star-Lord was originally supposed to get a lot more romantic action.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" writer/director James Gunn recently updated his instagram with a behind the scenes picture that didn't make the theatrical cut of the film. He writes, "We cut her bit primarily for pacing - which I felt rotten about, because Simara was great, her makeup was cool, as was the outfit Alex Byrne designed for her. But, what the heck, there's always the possibility she can reappear in a future Marvel film!" It appears that Zoe Zaldana may have some competition from Simara Dixon for actress that still looks amazing in blue skin.

Marvel has plenty to celebrate these days as their latest superhero film, "Guardians of the Galaxy" continues to blast through the box office. The film just debuted in Japan at #3 according to Box Office Mojo, grossing over $2 million in its opening weekend. While it is going head to head with the "Rurouni Kenshin" sequel, it appears that Japan has also fallen for the off-beat super group that's lead by Chris Pratt's Star-Lord.

While Star-Lord may be focused on the beautiful Gamora, she originally was not the only romantic interest. According to Cinemablend, "Originally the film was going to include a sequence where Star-Lord parted ways with Bereet - the pretty pink Xandarian played by Melia Kreiling - and then immediately started hitting on Ms. Dixon (could this be the girl Peter is talking to when spotted by Rocket?). Later, during the fight sequence between Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket and Groot there was going to be a moment where Peter broke from the action to flirt with his new blue alien friend again." Here's hoping the deleted scene ends up on the "Guardians of the Galaxy" Blu-ray and DVD release, that will most likely happen before the year is out.

For fans who can't get enough of "Guardians of the Galaxy," in addition to James Gunn's regular instagram sharing, they can also anticipate a sequel set for release in July of 2017. It's a long way off, but based on current box office performance, Marvel can probably anticipate another success.
