Upcoming Sony Phones 2014: You'll Soon Get Your Hands On Xperia Z3 And Z3 Compact, Is This Duo Better Than Galaxy Alpha/Note 4?

Announced at the IFA in Berlin, the best upcoming Sony phones for 2014 will hit the US market 'soon'.

According to a report by GSM Arena, Sony Mobile's website in the US has already listed the two devices with the 'coming soon' label.

The two high-end devices, the Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact were announced a couple of weeks ago at the IFA showcase and both devices are here for a mission - to rival Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Alpha.

Even before it was announced, there were already reservations whether this handset is a good idea for the Japanese phone maker. Aside from the fact that there were no major changes from the Xperia Z2, which was announced just in February, it still comes with the usual Sony design.

However, this time the phone's edges are more rounded, probably to facilitate one-hand use.

Meanwhile, the Z3 Compact is more welcomed than its bigger sibling mainly because there were no Xperia Z2 Compacts before it. Its predecessor is the Z1 Compact, which has become a hit initially in Asian countries like Japan and China, and then the US.

In comparison, the Galaxy Note 4 is probably the best spec'd smartphone right now with its 5.7-inch display with Quad HD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, 3GB of RAM and the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset. There is also the Exynos 5433 chipset version, which is reported to be even better than the Qualcomm-made chip.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Alpha is a decent-looking smartphone at 4.6 inches with HD resolution. It is primarily tasked to take on the iPhone 6, and other midrangers which fall in this price and size range.

Unfortunately for Samsung fans, both the Galaxy Note 4 and Alpha are not yet available in the US, while both Sony's handsets are coming soon.
