Amazon Fire Tablet: Retail Giant Unleashes A Trio Of Android-Running Slates, High-End Version Packs 8.9" Screen, Snapdragon 805, 2GB RAM

After the Fire Phone, the retailer giant has now unleashed a number of Amazon Fire tablet devices.

According to a report by GSM Arena, Amazon announced three different slates with different specs and prices.

First up is the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 tablet which is certainly the best device in the lineup. It boasts an 8.9-inch display with QHD resolution or (2560 x 1600), Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 805 chipset, 2GB of RAM, a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.5GHz, and an option for 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal memory.

At the back of the device is an 8MP shooter while there is a front-facing unit in front that can shoot 720p clips. No gimmicks here unlike the Fire Phone, just sheer power and high-end specs.

Meanwhile, Amazon also announced the Fire HD 6 and 7, which pack modest specs and an even lower price tag.

The Fire HD 6 features a 6-inch display with 800 x 1200 resolution, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.5GHz, an unknown chipset and the option for an 8GB or 16GB of built in storage. The tablet has a 2MP rear camera and a VGA front cam for selfies.

The Fire HD 7 on the other hand has identical specs inside, but instead gets a 7-inch display with the same HD (800 x 1200) resolution.

The Fire HDX 8.9 tablet will cost $379 for the 16GB model, while the top-end 64GB edition is priced at $594. The lower-end slates cost a lot cheaper. The HD 6 is priced at only $99 for the 8GB edition, while the HD 7 costs $139.

All three devices will reportedly become available by October 2.
