iPhone 6 Specs: Here's 1 Reason Why Apple Didn't Plan On Putting Sapphire To Its New Phones

Even before the new iPhones were launched, some rumors already claimed that the iPhone 6 specs will include a sapphire display for the screen. 

In several rumors, sapphire will allegedly enable Apple to manufacture more sleek-looking iPhones, not to mention the resistance to scratches made on the phone's screen. 

But during Apple's event last week, there were no sapphire screens for both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.

According to a report by Phone Arena, Tim Bajarin of Time was able to talk to some unnamed sources and they revealed that the Cupertino manufacturer did not have any plans to include a sapphire display in its new iPhones. 

In fact, the report goes on that Apple has not even yet decided whether to use sapphire for its future iPhones, particularly the iPhone 7 next year. 

In the report, it appears that there are a number of reasons why sapphire will not be a good addition to the iPhone as of now. 

In Bajarin's interview, one particular reason why sapphire was not used for the new iPhones is that it would have added $100 to the device's retail price. Currently, the 16GB model of the iPhone 6 costs $199 on contract, while the iPhone 6 Plus will set you back for $299 with the same configuration on contract. If the phones both had a sapphire screen, then those prices will surely break the bank for most people. 

While price is certainly not a problem for people who are already Apple fans, it would certainly be a deal-breaker for those coming from Android or Windows Phone who have been saving up just to try the new iPhones.
