Aubrey Plaza To Voice Grumpy Cat; Lifetime Flick Slated For The Holidays

A "Grumpy Cat" movie slated for November has cast Aubrey Plaza to give life to the furry creature.

The "Parks and Recreation" star, who plays the monotonous character of April Ludgate on the show, will reportedly lend her voice to the "Grumpy Cat" movie.

Slated to become the new version of Chrismtas' new grinch, "Grumpy Cat" jumped on to the silverscreen after getting Internet fame as a meme.

"Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever" will reportedly be about a cat in a pet-store who never gets chosen for adoption and the interaction she has with a 12-year-old girl who can hear and speak to her.

The movie's script was written by Tim Hill, who penned "SpongeBob Square Pants" and Jeff Morris.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lifetime's vice president for original movies Arturo Interian discussed the novelty of the movie. "It brings fun and irreverence that we haven't had at Lifetime," said Interian. "We're so known for our heartfelt sentimentality that it will poke fun at those stereotypes."

The movie was described by Interian as "a little 'Home Alone' and a little 'Die Hard'" and will reportedly feature appearances by other Internet memes.

The meme started when a photo of Grumpy Cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, was posted by the owner Tabatha Bundesen's brother on Reddit in 2012.

The photo then garnered Internet fame and have been the inspiration for a book, a theatrical movie deal for a flick that was called "Here Comes the Boom" with Broken Road Productions, and a coffee product.

Prior to getting the Lifetime movie project, Grumpy Cat appeared on the 13th season of "American Idol" and attended the MTV Movie Awards in April.

The "Grumpy Cat" movie, which is a live-action film, has reportedly started shooting in the summer and will be shown on Lifetime on November 29.
