iCloud Drive Warning For iOS 8 Users; Apple Warns Users Not To Take Advantage Of Key Cloud Feature Until OS X Yosemite Release

iCloud Drive warning for iOS 8 users – don’t upgrade to iCloud Drive immediaely, as it’ll require the OS X Yosemite Mac OS, which won’t be available until next month. Apple warns that, “You will not be able to access the documents stored in iCloud on your other devices until they are also upgraded to iOS 8 or OS X Yosemite.”

This is very much applicable for users who regularly sync with iCloud. DayOne, a journal for the iPhone and iPad, gave an illustration on the warning. The image can be seen below.

Business Insider notes that you should not upgrade yet if you want to continue syncing data between iOS 8 and iOS 7 devices. iCloud Drive requires iOS 8 on all devices plus the latest incoming Mac OS X Yosemite.

Apple has made available for download the iOS 8, it’s latest mobile platform. Enhancements and additions on the Apple mobile OS include: Messages, which now includes a new voice message feature; Health and Healthkit, a range of health and fitness related apps for users; TouchID, fingerprint authentication for apps; Photos, now supports Time Lapse, filters and iCloud photo storage; Notifications, more interactive than ever.

Engadget notes that some of the latest update on the mobile OS is overdue, “but well worth the wait.”

“iOS 8 feels a bit like Apple playing catch-up; the update includes many features that Android users have been enjoying for years. Nonetheless, the upgrade goes a long way in giving the iPhone and iPad a better user experience,” writes Brad Molen of the gadget-focus news site.

It’s expected that future updates will arrive for the iOS 8, with Wednesday’s availability the first in a series of upgrades that will provide better experience for iPhone and iPad users.

A few reviewers note that the iOS 8 sports features that many Android users, especially developers already have. VentureBeat notes that these include the ability to share data between apps and take advantage of the TouchID biometric sensor as wel get full access to the camera API.
