Dell Venue 8 7000 Release Date: 8-inch Android 4.4 KitKat Tablet Is ‘World’s Thinnest’? Sports 2K Display, 3D RealSense Camera Technology; Available This November

Dell Venue 8 7000 release date: Specs of Dell’s newest tablet, the Android 4.4 KitKat powered Dell Venue 8 7000 is touting itself as the “world’s thinnest tablet” and at 6mm thick (or 0.24 inches), it could well be. But reviewers note that this skinny tablet has a premium display and very impressive camera features. The unit which was unveiled at Intel’s annual developer conference is expected to be available this November.

CNET calls the Dell Venue 8 7000, “the tablet camera of the future.” It has an 8-megapixel RealSense camera and a Gallery app that gives you all you need to take full advantage of the 3D snapper. It also has a 2,560 x 1,600 pixel resolution OLED display with deep black levels and stark contrast.

Intel’s RealSense camera technolgy is a 3D camera and works much like the Xbox Kinect and Amazon Fire Phone, Trusted Reviews note. It’s a dual camera that’s combined with an IR sensor and able to take pictures with depth. It’s a very useful technology that can be used in creating images with 3D printers. The Dell Venue 8 7000 is the first tablet to sport such technology.

Under the hood, the Dell Venue 8 7000 has a quad-core Intel Atom Z3500 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. CNET notes that it runs on a fairly stock version of Android 4.4 KitKat.

Reviews on the physical built of the unit has been positive. According to India Today, the Dell Venue 8 7000 “felt very well build” and “appeared like an impressive product.” It’s also described as feeling “razor like” with its thin svelte chassis. It’s light to hold but could be a little uncomfortable because of sharp lines around the edges.

Pricing for the unit is still unknown and will be disclosed on its availability date.
