‘Men, Women & Children’ New Trailer Released: ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ Ansel Elgort Struggles With 21st Century Love, Critics Still Have Mixed Feelings About Latest From Director Jason Reitman [VIDEO]

With the explosion of readily available technology there has been both curiosity and fear of how smartphones and dating sites are affecting our relationships. "Up in the Air" director Jason Reitman's latest film, "Men, Women & Children," based on the popular novel of the same name, explores this concept from multiple perspectives and generations. A new full length trailer has been released for the film and all eyes are on "The Fault in Our Stars" breakout star Ansel Elgort as he struggles to belong in his high school. Unfortunately, critics who saw the film premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival are giving largely mixed reviews.

"I know a rock photographer and she said to me that cell phones ruined the rock photo. Because it used to be after a band played on stage, they'd go break shit - and now, every photo, it's just four guys sitting on a couch looking at their phones, texting girls in the audience," was what director Jason Reitman had to say to Screencrush about the observation that these days everyone seems to be buried in their cell phones. This is no exception in his upcoming film "Men, Women & Children," which stars quite a few veteran actors such as Adam Sandler and Jennifer Garnier. But in the new full length trailer that was released today, everyone seems to be focused on newbie Ansel Elgort.

Ansel Elgort, who has had quite a bit of success with first leading role in "The Fault in Our Stars" is set to play teenager Tim Mooney, who based on the trailer, is going to be struggling with romance once again. This time he'll have 21st century technology as his antagonist as opposed to cancer.

"Men, Women & Children" is due out October 17th, but critics who saw the film at the Toronto International Film Festival are reporting mostly mixed feelings. Currently the film is at a 56% on Rotten Tomatoes, 9 fresh reviews and 7 rotten. Additionally Indiewire states in their review that, "‘Men, Women, & Children puts a lot of effort into making a grand statement about our dangerously fragmented times. Unfortunately, the movie falls short of its big ideas."

While the reviews haven't all been positive, they had mostly good things to say about Ansel Elgort, so in terms of the box office, perhaps the young actor can draw a good crowd for a viable commercial success.
