LeBron Roller Coaster News: Cedar Point Makes Good On LeBron Promise, But In A Much Bigger Way; Theme Park Partners With The 'Lebron James Family Foundation'

Despite an earlier promise by Cedar Point theme park to rename a ride to LeBron roller coaster, fans cannot expect to take a ride on a "King James" anytime soon.

According to Fox8.com, Cedar Point in Ohio made a promise to LeBron James via a tweet in July 2014 that they would rename one of their rides into a LeBron roller coaster if the NBA superstar would decide to return to play with the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, instead of going with the initial plan, Cedar Point partnered with the LeBron James Family Foundation.

In a report by Cleveland.com, Bryan Edwards, spokesman of Cedar Point said that they wanted a bigger project than a LeBron roller coaster, "After speaking with everyone involved, we wanted to do something far bigger and better than renaming a roller coaster in LeBron's name. We are thrilled to be ongoing partners by making a lasting impact for kids in Northeast Ohio. LeBron wanted it that way, and we couldn't agree more."

Cedar Point made the announcement on September 16 through its vice president Jason McClure. "We are thrilled to have formed this partnership with LeBron and his foundation. It's great when two world-class organizations can come together for the benefit of kids, their education and their families." McClure said.

The LeBron James Family Foundation also shared its excitement over the partnership, through executive director Michele Campbell. "The Foundation is extremely excited about this new partnership because it's a long-term commitment that will have benefits for our kids and their families for years to come."

The long-term partnership stated that 100 percent of the proceeds from the first ride auction in 2015 will benefit LeBron's foundation. The highlight of the partnership will be in the summer of 2015 when Cedar Point hosts all children who are actively part of the "Wheels for Education" program of the foundation and Akron I PROMISE Network. The kids will have a fun-filled day at the theme park with their families.
