Houston Rockets Roster Beefed Up By Jason Terry? Or Is He A Redundant Addition To Harden-Led Squad?

The Houston Rockets do not exactly have the best of the off-season this year, and its roster has not seen any major improvement from last year.

In fact, a lot of poeple would argue that the Rockets have become more vulnerable and more likely to make another first round exit during the playoffs next season.

Big man Omer Asik, Howard's rebounding sidekick, and Turkey's leading scorer in their FIBA World Cup stint, has moved on to New Orleans where he will team up with the rising star Anthony Davis in building what could be the next twin towers of the East. Meanwhile, Jeremy Lin, who often show some flashes of brilliance throughout the season, has been sent by Houston to the Lakers.

Lastly, the team's third option on offense was snatched by Dallas and they paid a hefty $45 million for the 25-year-old's new contract. Just with those three losses, the Rockets now have only Harden and Howard who can provide quality minutes and really produce the points.

Fortunately, GM Daryl Morey managed to get back Trevor Ariza from Washington where he has played very well, especially during the playoffs where it almost hosted an upset against the Indiana Pacers during the second round. Ariza may not offer the same offensive repertoire as Parsons does, but he is a better wing defender.

Now, the Rockets add veteran guard Jason Terry.

Terry has played for a number of NBA teams in the past, including seven seasons with Dallas where he won a title, and a short stint with Boston where he played alongside the Celtics' Big Three back then (Pierce, Garnett, Allen.

Known for his three-point shooting, Terry can relieve Harden some minutes while he recuperates from slashing and penetrating the defense. However, the 37-year-old has not been known for his defense, and so he could actually make Houston a worse defensive team.

Training camp will start soon, and the Rockets better look for the best pieces left in free agency, or the trading block in order to improve their chances at advancing deep in the playoffs.
