Ben Affleck ‘Seria-Killer’ Smile Made Him Nick Dunne In ‘Gone Girl’ Thriller: Actor Says He Feels A Connection With The Character

Ben Affleck is Nick Dunne in the new, much-awaited thriller ‘Gone Girl’, an adaptation of the Gillian Flynn's best-selling novel. Described as “creepy” by the Vulture and that of a serial-killer, Affleck’s smile is selected by David Fincher, “Gone Girl” movie director who is looking at least 50 shots of the actor’s face.

"I flipped through Google Images and found about 50 shots of Affleck giving that kind of smile in public situations. You look at them and know he’s trying to make people comfortable in the moment, but by doing that he’s making himself vulnerable to people having other perceptions about him." Fincher told Playboy in an interview.

The actor’s smile is very crucial to the movie as he will play the husband of a Amy Dune (Rosamund Pike), who was missing on their fifth wedding anniversary. And there is no closest suspect than her husband, Nick himself.

“You cast movies based on critical scenes. In Gone Girl there's a smile the guy has to give when the local press asks him to stand next to a poster of his missing wife. Fincher further said describing scenes of movie wherein the Daredevil actor will be involved in.

In a report by Huffington Post, Affleck is made to speak about his character in the thriller in an interview by the New York Times and he readily admitted to feel some kind of connection with Nick Dunne and his misconstrued smile saying that he also "felt as though I was looking at a version of my life that I didn’t recognize through the prism of the media.”

He made mention of his past relationship with diva, Jennifer Lopez and how too much publicity had made him feel like “cast in a soap opera where I had no control over the lines I was saying or the story line.” He would think: “This bears no resemblance to me, and I really wish they would write me a better part. Because I don’t want to be this guy.”
