Tokyo Game Show 2014 Updates: ‘Driveclub,’ ‘Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime,’ and ‘The Evil Within’ Are Named Most Exciting Upcoming Games [VIDEO]

Developers are two days into this year's Tokyo Game Show and while there's still plenty of games to be seen, a few games have been garnering the most attention. According to a report from The Verge, among some new trailers for upcoming installments in existing franchises, new games "Driveclub," "Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime," and "The Evil Within" are the reportedly the most exciting new upcoming games.

"We think it was the best thing for the game. It's allowed us to add more tracks, add more cars, polish the handling, polish the visuals and start work on new features which we hope we can introduce very quickly after launch," said game director Paul Rustchynsky in an interview VG24/7. Some fans may have been worried about how rough the game looked when it was announced at E3 last year, but it looks like the wait was worth it. According to The Verge, "The visuals are beyond beautiful (even if I wish the game ran at 60 frames per second), the courses I played were well-designed, and the handling is a heady mix of simulation-style weightiness and breakneck arcade fun." "Driveclub" is due out this October.

For those nostalgic gamers who miss classic space shooters, "Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime," offers an updated take on what you might be used to. According to Asteroid Base, "‘Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime' is a frantic 1- or 2-player couch co-op action game in development for Xbox One and Steam (PC + Mac). Explore a colourful galaxy in a crazy neon spaceship that you control together by manning turrets, lasers, shields and thrusters." There's no release date yet, but based on the good experience testers had at the Tokyo Game Show this year, it will most likely be an indie game hit when it finally comes out.

Far off in genre but still nevertheless exciting, "The Evil Within" has horror gamers remembering what it's like to fear walking around corners. Game Rant reports, "Although The Evil Within generated enough scares for a reaction reel, Game Rant's hands-on preview of the game at E3 2014 was more creepy than overtly terrifying. It's possible that the noisy action elements seen in this trailer may end up detracting from the kind of nerve-jangling quiet terror that's really effective in survival horror games, but we're still looking forward to playing ‘The Evil Within' next month." The game is due out on October 14th for most major consoles.

There's still much more to come from the Tokyo Game Show as it opens to the public tomorrow (perhaps right now for those in the same time zone as Japan), but gamers can be comforted to know that the industry has plenty for them to consume this fall.
