iHeartRadio Festival 2014: Taylor Swift Opened Day 1 With A Bang; Usher Closed It With Surprise Guest

Day 1 of iHeartRadio Festival 2014 has ended but set the bar high with performances by Taylor Swift for its opening and Usher as it closed.

Considered one of the biggest musical events of the year, iHeartRadio Festival 2014 closed its first day at the MCM Garden Arena in Las Vegas with a bang.

Taylor Swift started the biggest musical party of the year, saying "So here we are, all of us in Las Vegas, because we all love listening to the radio." The 23-year-old country-turned-pop superstar dazzled in her signature sparkly get-up, while performing her hits "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," "22," "I Knew You Were Trouble," and "Love Story." The singer ended her set with her newest single, the mark of her transition to pop, "Shake It Off."

Coldplay performed five songs. Jennifer Lawrence was reportedly sighted watching on the sidelines, assumingly to support rumored beau Chris Martin, who is the frontma of Coldplay.

Nicki Minaj came with her A-game and reportedly performed "Flawless" a capella after experiencing technical difficulties. But before that, the rapper performed her first hit "Super Bass" and followed it with "Beez In The Trap."

There was also a surprise appearance from Ariana Grande, who performed the song "Bang Bang" with Minaj.

Bastille came next and performed their covers of Snap!'s "Rhythm Is A Dancer" and Corona's "Rhythm Of The Night."

They were followed by Djs Steve Angello and Steve Aoki. Surprise appearances from Pete Wentz and Will.I.Am, who both collaborated with Steve Aoki's new album also happened.

Zac Brown Band followed with their cover of the rock classic "Bohemian Rhapsody." After his performance was Jason Derulo who performed his summer hit "Wiggle."

Ariana Grande was second to the last to perform that night, opening her set with "Problem." She then followed it with "Break Your Heart Right Back," "Be My Baby," and "Love Me Harder."

The first day of iHeartRadio Festival 2014 was ended with a performance by Usher. He performed his old hits "OMG," "You Make Me Wanna," "DJ Got Us Fallin In Love Again," and then followed it with his new song "She Came To Give It To You."

The last song of the night was a duet by Usher and Chris Brown, who appeared as a surprise.
