Jamie Foxx Song Party Aint A Party Puts Him In Hot Water; Actor-Singer Gets Sued Over New Song

The Jamie Foxx song "Party Ain't A Party" has put the actor-singer in hot water.

After close to four years of dormancy in the music industry, the release of Jamie Foxx's song was a thing anticipated by fans. But the "Ray" actor has reportedly been sued because of it.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, a lawsuit was filed against Foxx claiming that the lyrics to his newest single was copied from another artist's song. Nontra Records filed the case against Foxx, DJ Mustard and 2 Chainz.

The complaint stated that the song was primarily intended for a different artist: J Rand. DJ Mustard allegedly sent the instrumental of the song for J Rand's album under Poe Boy records.

After J Rand cut ties with Poe Boy and signed with Nontra Records, the latter reportedly purchased the rights to the song.

While the complaint was initially made in relation to the similarity in the instrumental, the plaintiff reportedly took note of the lyrics, which were almost identical.

According to the lawsuit, "Specifically, the underlying material and Jamie Foxx's lyrics contained in the Subsequent Work are identical to the lyrics sung by J Rand in the sound recording of the Original Work."

Foxx, along with his collaborators in the song, were reportedly asked to pay at least $150,000 to Nontra Records.

While the case has already been filed, DJ Mustard's lawyer negated the statements claimed by Nontra Records and released a statement saying, "DJ Mustard did not grant any rights to a third party to exploit the recording, 'Party Ain't A Party,' and, accordingly, this claim against DJ Mustard has absolutely no merit."

Jamie Foxx's song "Party Ain't A Party" was released just six days ago and is the Oscar-winning actor's follow-up to his 2010 hit "Fall For Your Type" which featured Drake.
