Marvel's Agents of Shield Release Date, Premier Date, Trailer, Air Date, Spoilers, Cast, And New Characters: Preview Episode One And Beyond [VIDEO]

"Marvel's Agents of Shield" is returning this Tuesday September 23 at 9pm, here is everything currently known about the upcoming season.

Marvel recently released a new poster featuring Ward seperated by a crack from the others ( an obvious nod to his betrayal), as well as a new preview clip, both can be seen below.

"Agents of Shield" season 2, episode 1. The episode, titled "Shadows," premieres next Tuesday, and new art and a new clip make it clear that those shadows have a price.

The sneak peek, originally released for certain cable customers earlier in week, is an opening scene from "Shadows" which introduces several new players in Coulson's long game.

Agent Isabelle Hartley (Lucy "Warrior Princess" Lawless) and her partner Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) will make their debut as te newest agents of "Shield"i

The official synopsis for episode one reads:

"Coulson and his team are now wanted fugitives with limited resources," the summary says, "but that's not stopping them from keeping the world safe from powerful and unseen threats everywhere. However, with new members they hardly know, will S.H.I.E.L.D. ever be trusted again?"

Variety speculates this season will feature, "a transition to an older, wiser and darker version of a series that burst out of the gate with the full weight and expectations of the comicbook faithful behind it last season, only to stumble in its early episodes. While some installments captured the thrills we've come to expect from Marvel's properties, and many intriguing mysteries were introduced, answers didn't seem to be forthcoming, which left some viewers wondering whether the show might collapse under the weight of its secrets, even as it coyly hinted at ties to the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe."

Expect changes in the FitzSimmons dynamic as well after Fitz's admission of love to Simmons in the Season 1 finale -- and his near-death experience.

"The end of last season Fitz professed his love for Simmons, and she didn't really see it coming and didn't feel the same in that moment. That's something that once that moment's happened, you can't really go back from that in a friendship," Henstridge explains to Zap2it. "You have to move forward, and [we see] how they deal with that. That moment changes them both because it was a life-threatening moment, and neither of them will be the same after going through that emotionally and physically."

She notes, "It was a bomb that went off, and now they have to find a way to recover."

"He's still around. I guess we'll just see. It hasn't necessarily happened yet, but there's a potential that's been created and is always there," Henstridge says. "If you like someone, it's hard to stop liking someone. There's chemistry there, and Fitz is obviously aware of that chemistry. That's something that I think will be teased throughout -- or not, I don't know."

"If they're working through their friendship, then that leaves gaps for other people to potentially get close to each of them," she says. "I'm excited about all those different elements. When everything's great in a relationship everything's great. But when everything's not, there's obviously so many elements that can come up and disrupt further. I think we'll see a fair few of those."

"FitzSimmons always identified as a duo. They finished each other's sentences, they finished each other's thoughts, they completed each others worlds, and now that that dynamic has shifted," Henstridge says. "It doesn't necessarily mean it's broken but there's repair work that needs to be done. Then all of the sudden they have to figure out who they are as individuals, which they've never had to do before."

Episode three, istitled "Making Friends and Influencing People," and it is about the S.H.I.E.L.D. team tracking down Donnie Gill, a former S.H.I.E.L.D. student with freezing powers first seen in season one's "Seeds." The official plot straight from Marvel reads "Coulson and his team race against HYDRA to get to Donnie Gill-a dangerous gifted with the ability to freeze objects-while Simmons is caught in the crossfire."

"Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" Season 2 premieres Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
