Star Trek 3: Zachary Quinto Reveals Important Plot Details; Says Shooting Will Start In The Next Six Months [PHOTO]

Variety reports that Star Trek 3 will begin shooting in the next six months. Zachary Quinto, who stars as Spock, has confirmed that he will be returning to the role shortly.

Quinto stated, "I think it's on the horizon... Things are rumbling, so I have a feeling we will be in production sometime in the next six months. According to Mirror, Quinto is expected to appear alongside Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana.

Robert Orci - who helped write JJ Abrams' two Star Trek films with Alex Kurtzman - will direct and help write the film. Besides his work on the last two Star Trek films, Orci is known for writing the script of The Amazing Spider Man 2.

Orci was scheduled to work on "The Power Rangers" reboot, but recently dropped the project citing his busy directorial schedule for Stark Trek 3. He is currently working alongside scriptwriters John D. Payne and Patrick McCay, and has announced that an initial draft of the script has been completed.

Actor Simon Pegg said of Orci's involvement, "Bob's been here since the first Star Trek - by that I mean the 2009 one - so it seemed to make perfect sense that he come in as a director on this one because he gets it. He was always the most Trekkie of all of those guys anyway, he's always understood the story the best so it's great that he's going to be involved in the writing and the directing," conveying his approval of Orci's position.

Quinto told Variety that the new movie will likely revolve around the five-year mission, which is "to boldly go where no man has gone before." He commented, "I think the five year-mission will be a part of this next film in some way...we're coming up on the 50th anniversary of one of the most iconic sci-fi series in entertainment history so it's inherently an ongoing story. But I do think that we'll feel some sense of evolution in these characters that's been building through the first few films."
