Vampire Diaries Actor Michael Malarkey Has a Song in His Heart, Which Is Set On a Stake

Vampire Diaries Season 6 Spoiler: Michael Malarkey, who plays Enzo, an old friend of Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries, is more than just a very British bloodsucker. The vampire also likes to sing.

Actor Michael Malarkey release "Feed The Flames," a five-song EP on October 12, 2014. The record is coming out through Cap on Cat Records. The title track, Feed the Flames, debuted on iTunes on September 16, 2014.

Malarkey is set to give a concert on October 11 at the Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta in anticipation of the release.  Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster.  Malarkey will also play New York City's Webster Hall on November 15 and the Hotel Café in Los Angeles. 

Enzo was the highlight of Vampire Diaries season five.  Malarkey told Billboard "As far as my songwriting goes, I became infatuated with Tom Waits after graduating high school, specifically Rain Dogs (probably the most influential album of all time for me) and The Heart of Saturday Night.  [That] lead to further obsessions with Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen whose narrative qualities continue to influence my songwriting to this day....oh, and Dylan of course. One of the only covers I ever learned on my own accord was 'Don't Think Twice, It's Alright.'"

"'Feed the Flames' is about reinventing love as you go along, fighting and making up, flirting with disaster and madness and coming out stronger after the struggle," he continued. "It's very lyrically driven and honest and there's a fair bit of finger-picking. My greatest challenge in making this record was trying to keep that real 'backporch' quality but also adding something more to my usual lo-fi approach. It's heart-breaking yet hopeful and I'm very happy with the way it's turned out."

American actor Michael Malarkey is also a British citizen. He played Elvis Presley in the West End production of the Million Dollar Quartet. Malarkey also played Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby.
