Lorde’s ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ Lyrics Portray What’s Inside Katniss Everdeen’s Head; Find Out Why ‘Royals’ Songstress Has Been Chosen To Curate ‘Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ Soundtrack

Following a week of dropping hints on Instagram, Lorde's "Yellow Flicker Beat" finally made its debut. The new single is one of the tracks included in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" movie soundtracks which will come out on November 18.

The young songstress says that the "Yellow Flicker Beat" lyrics are an attempt to encapsulate what's inside the film heroine's mind.

"It's my first offering from what I hope will be a soundtrack you love. It's my attempt at getting inside her head, Katniss," she wrote on Tumblr.

In the upcoming film, the rebellion in Panem is in full swing and the people are looking up to Katniss for hope. She is the people's Mockingjay - someone who makes them believe that there's a better tomorrow despite the cruel and manipulative hands of the Capitol.

The "Yellow Flicker Beat" lyrics appear to portray the traits of Katniss in the middle of chaos. Some lines from the song are:

"I'm a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm/
And the scars that mark my body, they're silver and gold/
My blood is a flood of rubies, precious stones/
It keeps my veins hot, the fires find a home in me/
I move through town, I'm quiet like a fire/
And my necklace is of opal, I tie it and untie it."

Despite her young age, the creative team of "The Hunger Games" did not doubt Lorde's capability of enlivening the film with music.
