Agent Carter TV Series Cast: Dominic Cooper Returns As Howard Stark As Marvel Studios Adds James D'Arcy, Shea Whigham, Chad Michael Murray and Enver Gjokaj In The Show!

With a testosterone-heavy supporting cast, Marvel's Agent Carter probably is the first title produced by the studio to have a female lead. In recent weeks, James D'Arcy, Shea Whigham, Chad Michael Murray and Enver Gjokaj have joined Agent Carter. Captain America: The First Avenger star Dominic Cooper is expected to repeat his role as Howard Stark, Iron Man's father.

Considering the outline of the plot for Agent Carter, which represents Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell) finding herself being treated insignificant after America's fighting men make their return from foreign countries after the end of World War II. Carter refuses to stay cemented in her administrative duties and takes on missions which are not openly acknowledged or displayed. She takes on these covert missions for the Strategic Scientific Reserve, a precursor to Howard Stark and S.H.I.E.L.D.

Howard Stark is logically expected to make an appearance in the show as he is mentioned in the synopsis and Marvel's official news site confirmed this. Not much detail was offered by the press release besides a confirmation of the casting. Cooper is expected to play an significant role in the eight episodes of Agent Carter's Season 1 which is all set to air on ABC during  Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s midseason break.  Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas are the show runners behind this series.

After his last appearance as Howard Stark in the Marvel One-Shot Agent Cater, Cooper has been occupied. Besides some stage work, in a biographical mini-series, Cooper played author Ian Fleming, author known for his James Bond series of spy novels, he also played the rich antagonist of NFS (Need For Speed) and will be seen next month in the action fantasy movie, Dracula Untold. Though Cooper doesn't often work on long-form TV series, its easy to see why he'd an exception for Marvel.

Peggy Carter has appeared in both Captain America film and Atwell guest-starred in Agents of S.H.I.EL.D's season two premiere. Agent Carter will apparently be a prequel to ABC's latest Marvel show and will be covering the back story of how S.H.I.E.L.D was formed.

If the two series exchange nods and references, it wouldn't quite a surprise.
