BlackBerry Q20 Release Date: Specs Of ‘Classic’ Handset Will Incl. BB 10.3 OS, QWERTY Keyboard; Maybe Unveiled Next Month

BlackBerry Q20 release date: Specs of the highly anticipated BlackBerry Q20 has not been officially revealed, but a leaked global handset roadmap for the Q20 reveal that it will be powered with the upcoming BB10.3 operating system. Many speculate that the handset will be made available by the company next month.

The BlackBerry Q20 will pay homage to the roots of BlackBerry’s dominance, with the QWERTY keyboard that has made it famous to business professionals determined to get email and documents done on the go. The launch of the device is also in line with the company’s strategy to appeal deeper to its niche market of keyboard lovers as the broader smartphone market has become competitive.

The roadmap notes that the BlackBerry Classic will be running on the upcoming BlackBerry 10.3, the latest iteration on the Canadian handset maker’s mobile platform.

The launch of the Q20 is also a move that shines hope on the future of the embattled mobile company. BlackBerry CEO John Chen is confident of the upcoming handset’s appeal calling it “very productive and very secure.”

"There's a new product called the BlackBerry Classic that's coming out. It's an updated and enhanced version of one of our most popular and successful products called the Bold. It will include a keyboard and a good touch-screen, very fast Internet, Web-browsing capability and multimedia capability. But also it will be very productive and very secure," he said.

Chen added, "So, all the familiar things that people love, with some new technology updated. That will come out in November along with the server that helps companies manage devices. Not only the BlackBerry device, but every device, the iPhone and Androids and Windows and everything else. So, the new products will have a lot to do with the architecture.”

There are no actual leaks on either the price of features of the Q20 but speculations suggest that it will have a TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 582 ppi. It’s overall design may also be inspired by the Bold series’ classic and elegant finish.
