Samsung Galaxy Alpha Vs. Apple iPhone 6: Which 'Semi-Flagship' Is The Best Option For You?

Are you torn between the Samsung Galaxy Alpha vs. Apple iPhone 6? Do you feel that you can't decide which one you would buy between the two smartphones?

That is a normal feeling as the Galaxy Alpha and iPhone  were made for each other - that is - to compete with its rival.

Here are some features you may want to look at to help you decide:

Samsung Galaxy Alpha over Apple iPhone 6

If you are a long-time Samsung fan, you would definitely appreciate that this device is the company's first smartphone to pack a metal frame. The frame alone gives it the premium build a lot of Samsung's handsets are missing these days. The phone runs on an Exynos 5 Octa 5430 chipset which is benchmarked as better than the Snapdragon 805. Also on board is a 12MP primary camera that is certainly higher resolution than the iPhone 6's, which retains its 8MP shooter for the fourth straight generation.

In addition, there is also a fingerprint sensor and heartrate monitor just like the Galaxy S5 flagship from the Korean manufacturer. RAM is another issue as the iPhone 6 only has 1GB of RAM while the Alpha boasts 2GB.

On the other hand, the new Apple phone has a slightly better resolution display than the Galaxy Alpha. The smartphone's Retina display packs 1334 x 750 pixels while the Galaxy Alpha only has an HD (1280 x 720) screen. Apple also boasts its own fingerprint sensor which is powered by Apple Pay,  a new way for Apple to manage and secure purchases made by its consumers.

Another advantage of Apple's device is the chipset and operating system, which are both manufactured specially for the iPhone. This means apps and other services will still run seamlessly in the iPhone in spite lower specs.

Verdict

Both the iPhone 6 and Galaxy Alpha share the same category as semi-flagships for their respective manufacturers. While all the specs are still factors to consider, most of the time it will boil down to just Android and iOS.
