2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Michael Beasley Signs With Memphis! Grizzlies Taking A Chance On Notorious College Star!

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions are almost complete (Ray Allen's retirement or return is probably the last main story) as big questions like Michael Beasley have finally been resolved.

Fox News talked to Memphis Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace on why he took a chance on Beasley when even the Miami Heat-the team that originally drafted him and gave him a second chance last season-passed on him:

"It's up to him to show us, make the case for himself then we'll see where this goes. We're just at the beginning of it with training camp started, and obviously he's someone that's very talented ... His career hasn't gone the way he would've liked but this is the perfect place for him to rebound."

Coach Dave Joerger is impressed with his athleticism, something they've missed since trading Rudy Gay: "I think he'll be tremendous playing at the elbow, playing pick and rolls. He's the kind of athlete that we don't really have since the Rudy Gay trade."

"The main part of my game I would like everyone to see is the mental part, and you can't really see it but just the fact that I'm learning and I'm still growing as a player. Honestly, man my main focus is just playing hard and getting in tip-top shape. As far as my position where I'm going to play, that's all up to the coaches."

Beasley was drafted no.2 in the loaded 2008 draft, just behind 2011 MVP Derrick Rose. He was "beastly" in college play but it never translated to his pro game. Maybe this time with the Grizzlies.

Basketball Insiders recently named the Grizzlies as a possible sleeper team in the tight Western Conference. "Memphis could definitely surprise some people since they'll be at full health and I think their bench will be improved with Vince Carter, Michael Beasley, Jordan Adams and Jarnell Stokes."
