Rush Hour TV Series News: Pilot Episode Confirmed By CBS As Release Date Set On Fall 2015!

The 1988 Tom Hanks starer fantasy comedy film Big and the 1998 Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker starer Hong Kong-American martial arts/action-comedy film, Rush Hour are both being transformed in television shows. Fox has already taken up the Big TV show and now we are aware that CBS acquired Rush Hour program from show runner Bill Lawrence, a renowned screenwriter, producer and director (creator of Scrubs, co-creator of Cougar Town and co-creator of Spin City.). This would be network's second recent big TV show pick up after it acquired Supergirl TV series last month.

Brett Ratner, who directed the Rush Hour movie trilogy will produce Rush Hour TV show. The show will cling to same premise as its cinematic predecessors I.E. a principled Hong Kong police officer and a black LAPD cop are compelled to work on a case/cases together. We need to wait for more information regarding what factors will characterize the small screen version apart from its big screen version.

As reported by Deadline, CBS has given a pilot production commitment to the Rush Hour series. Lawrence will be serving as co-writer as well as executive producer along with Black McCormick. The latter earlier had collaborated with Lawrence on Cougar Town and have also worked together on animated series like King of the Hill and Futurama.

Rush Hour is scheduled to begin its first season in less than a year from now, when Fall 2015 arrives bringing Supergirl and other would-be hit TV series.

Earlier TV shows of Lawrence have succeeded mainly owing to the collective screen chemistry of their casts especially that of the main characters like J.D. and Turk on Scrubs. Similarly the Rush Hour movies all thrived largely on the sense of companionship between Chan and Tucker, although the series grew lacking good quality. This confirms that casting will be the key determining factor in setting the Rush Hour TV show apart from other similar series.
