‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ Plot Spoilers: Captain America Vs Iron Man Will Set Stage For ‘Civil War’ Storyline?

While most observers assume that the Marvel Universe will be all about the Thanos/Infinity Gems storyline, plot rumors about "Avengers: Age of Ultron" suggest that "Civil War" maybe in the works.

The main event in "Civil War" is the division of superheroes (and villains as well) into two factions. Those who were in favor of the Superhero Registration Act which was espoused by Iron Man and those who opposed this act, led by Captain America.

In accordance with the Civil War rumor, there is also the highly anticipated Spider Man crossover which gained actual ground. Spider Man plays a central role, as depicted by Marvel.com:

"At a press conference in Washington D.C., Iron Man gave a speech introducing Spider-Man to the podium. Spider-Man then talked about how over the past years, he had kept his identity a secret, then talked about the registration act and how it gave superheroes a choice: to continue the trend Captain America advocated and have people with powers completely unchecked, or that superheroes could go legitimate and earn back a little public interest. To demonstrate his support of the Act, Spider-Man unmasked himself and revealed to the world that he was Peter Parker."

The talks between alleged talks between Sony and Marvel may be setting up this scene. But before that, there is already the conflicts between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. It must be noted that the details may be different. SHIELD no longer exists in the Cinematic Universe but Iron Man will be leading a "SHIELD like" government agency.

As Movie Pilot points out, this conversation in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" between Nick Fury and Cap:

"Fury: (SHIELD is) going to neutralize a lot of threats before they even happen.

Cap: I thought the punishment usually came after the crime.... This isn't freedom. This is fear."

Cap remains consistent with his stance on protecting freedom and personal rights, while Tony Stark remains concerned with the world's security (characterized by the Hulkbuster armor among other things).

Movie Pilot then assumes:

"As the Avengers 2 synopsis puts it, Tony Stark attempts to 'jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program'presumably leading to the creation of Ultron.

This is not the only hint of discord within the Age of Ultron synopsis, either. It goes on to mention the "uneasy alliances" struck up by The Avengers, as they attempt to battle the robotic threat."

There would be a hint of a parallel between the X-Men and the Sentinel threat as well as the Man vs Machine paradigm-although this time, it's superheroes. It may lead to what other rumors have predicted:

"Could this mean that, after doing battle with Ultron and his hordes, the Avengers, led by Captain America, turn their back on Iron Man?"

A new team of Avengers led by Captain America? We have to wait until May 1, 2015 to find out.
